Behaviour Consultations

Designed to help you address unwanted behaviour, these consultations dig deep into specific issues you are having with your dog.

Targeted support to improve behaviour and quality of life

Unlike training classes or one-to-one training, which is about teaching your dog a series of cues or commands like sit, leave, come, behaviour consultations are about stopping or altering an already established behaviour. For example lunging, jumping up, stealing food, digging, and attention seeking.

If your dog has a behavioural issue that needs modifying, then this is where our behavioural consultations come in.

  • Excessive barking: Determine what is triggering the barking and create a plan to help your dog stay calm and quiet
  • Separation Anxiety: Assist your dog to feel more secure and confident when you are gone.
  • Attention seeking: Teach your dog that unwanted behaviour does not get them your attention
  • Lunging/Pulling on the lead: Help your dog develop healthy habits on a walk, and learn how to behave on the lead.
  • Aggressive behaviours: Identify the root cause and develop strategies to manage and reduce aggressive behaviour.
  • Fears & Phobias: Help your dog overcome their fears through gradual exposure and positive reinforcement techniques.
  • Destructive behaviour & stealing: Discover solutions to eradicate these unwanted behaviours.
  • Overly possessive behaviour: Whether it be toys, food, space, or even family members, reduce their guarding instinct and teach them to share without feeling threatened.
  • And much more: Excessive licking, pacing, overexcitement, fear of handling, night-time restlessness, refusing to enter or exit vehicles or the house, escaping, digging, and more…

Modifying behaviours can be a relatively straightforward process or they can be extremely complex. Much depends on the nature of the problem, and how long the unwanted behaviour has been reinforced.

As the training undertaken in the behaviour consultation is purely designed to deal with altering/stopping unwanted behaviours, you will then have the option of continuing to work with me in regard to general obedience training on either a 1-2-1 basis on a class format. Any additional training after the second consultation will be charged separately.
